Top 10 UK Manufacturers of LPS 1175-Certified Steel Doors

lps-1175 certified steel door manufacturers in uk

We’ve spent the past three months comparing UK steel door manufacturers across a series of commercial security projects, with one specification at the centre of every conversation: LPS 1175. It’s the rating that insurers cite, that Secured by Design references on higher-risk buildings, and that most public-sector tenders treat as the baseline rather than the ceiling.

The problem with searching for an LPS 1175 supplier is that the marketing language sounds identical. Everyone is the UK’s leading manufacturer. Everyone has decades of experience. Everyone is certified. What’s harder to find is a clear view of which suppliers actually hold which ratings, who manufactures versus distributes, and where each one is genuinely strong rather than just well-presented.

This list is the result of that work. We’ve ranked the ten UK manufacturers we’d shortlist for an LPS 1175 project today. We don’t get a commission on any of them.

How We Evaluated?

We looked at five things: which LPS 1175 ratings each manufacturer actually carries, where their product is manufactured, the depth of customisation, lead times on standard versus bespoke specs, and the warranty position.

We requested quotes on a common spec (single-leaf SR3 doorset, 2100mm by 900mm, polyester powder-coated, multi-point locking) and tracked response time and quote quality. The 10 manufacturers on this list responded within five working days with full quotes and could answer technical questions without escalating.

Top 10 UK Manufacturers of LPS 1175-Certified Steel Doors

1. Latham’s Steel Doors

Latham's Steel Doors

Our pick for the strongest combination of LPS 1175 certification depth and post-installation cover.

Latham’s is independently certified across SR2, SR3, and SR4, manufactured in-house in the UK, and ships with a 12-year warranty (the longest on this list). The HOOPLY 19-point locking system is proprietary and one of the few genuine differentiators in the category. Bespoke sizing doesn’t carry the lead-time penalty common with competitors, and certificates of conformity are supplied per order rather than per product line.

The downside: The website is product-led rather than specifier-led. Architects looking for NBS clauses or CAD downloads will find them, but they aren’t surfaced as cleanly as on some specifier-first competitor sites.

2. SteelwayProtect (Fensecure)

SteelwayProtect (Fensecure)

The widest LPS 1175 rating coverage from a single supplier.

Steelway Protect is the only manufacturer on this list publicly certified across SR1 through SR5. Strong track record on UK Power Networks and similar utility specifications, with 90 years of trading history and in-house laser-cut fabrication.

The downside: The product-finder experience lags the front of the pack. Getting from a browse to a configurable quote takes more steps than it should.

3. Bradbury Group

Bradbury Group

The shortest realistic lead time in the UK LPS 1175 market.

The M2M+Express service ships custom doors in three to five working days. That’s faster than the rest of this list by a meaningful margin. The online configurator gives you a price without a phone call. Range covers SR2 through SR4, with dual-certified fire and security options.

The downside: Express specs are constrained: heavily bespoke finishes or non-standard sizing revert to standard lead times. Check which configurations qualify before promising a date.

4. MaxiumDoors

MaxiumDoors

The top end of the LPS 1175 scale, certified to SR6.

The Defender Xtreme range is certified to LPS 1175 Issue 8 (the current issue) across SR4, SR5, and SR6 in active production. Few UK manufacturers can demonstrate live SR5/SR6 supply, and the sales team can hold its own in a meeting with a security consultant.

The downside: Overkill for most commercial work. If your project sits in SR2 or SR3 territory, you’re paying for engineering you’ll never use.

5. Sunray Doors

Sunray Doors

The UK’s clearest specialist in louvred LPS 1175 doorsets.

The ExcluLouvre interlocking system is certified to SR2 and SR3, which combines airflow and certified security in a way that’s genuinely rare. Sunray is also the only UK manufacturer accredited to supply louvre systems to UK Power Networks, making them unavoidable on certain DNO projects.

The downside: If you don’t need louvres, there’s no reason to look here over the broader-range manufacturers. The solid security doors are competent but not their main story.

6. ProfabAccess (TUFF-DOR)

ProfabAccess (TUFF-DOR)

A clean, straightforward LPS 1175 range with no marketing fluff.

TUFF-DOR2, TUFF-DOR3, and TUFF-DOR4 each tested to the rating in the name. The product structure mirrors the spec structure, which sounds obvious but isn’t the norm. Clear attack-time data published per product, useful for tender responses that need supporting evidence.

The downside: The customisation envelope is narrower than Latham’s. Finishes, sizes, and accessories are workable but you’ll hit the edge of what they offer faster.

7. Robust UK

Robust UK

Bespoke commercial steel doorsets with serious customisation depth.

The SECUR-DOR range covers PAS 24, STS 202 BR3, and ENV 1627 Level 4. The TUFF-DOR range is licensed under LPS 1175 SR2, SR3, and SR4. Made-to-measure is the default rather than a premium add-on, and the business has the volume capacity for larger commercial fit-outs.

The downside: The brand is less visible online than the size of the business suggests. Initial research takes longer because the depth of public technical content is thinner.

8. Samson Doors

Samson Doors

A distributor with credible LPS 1175 stock, useful when you want options.

Stocks SecurGuard, SecurGuard PLUS, and the SeceuroShield 3801/7501 LPS 1175 shutters. The technical sales team is comfortable navigating between standards (LPS 1175, PAS 24, RC2, RC3), which helps on cross-spec briefs where you want to compare without running parallel sales conversations.

The downside: As a distributor rather than a manufacturer, margin is built into the cost. Going direct to the manufacturer is usually quicker and cheaper once you’ve decided on a specification.

9. Warrior Doors

Warrior Doors

LPS 1175 doorsets engineered for high-footfall retail and commercial settings.

SR2 doors certified to LPS 1175 Issue 7, with range extending to SR4. Pedestrian and sliding configurations are useful in retail where a standard hinged door doesn’t fit the entrance pattern. Integrates cleanly with access control systems running keypads, fobs, and alarms in combination.

The downside: The range feels narrower than the mid-pack on this list. Anything beyond the standard configurations gets difficult to source.

10. Premier SSL

Premier SSL

The right call when LPS 1175 has to be combined with blast or ballistic certification.

Tested to EN1522 and EN1523 ballistic standards in combination with LPS 1175, with verified resistance to FB4, FB6, and FB7 ammunition classes. EXV 25 blast-tested doorsets, with some configurations reaching the LPS 1175 E10 rating: among the highest combined attack-resistance grades available in the UK.

The downside: For projects that don’t need blast or ballistic certification, Premier is overspecified and priced accordingly. The value case stacks up when the multi-threat brief is real.

Final Thoughts

The honest answer to which UK manufacturer to use for LPS 1175 is that it depends on which part of the spec matters most. If you want one supplier you can build a long-term relationship with across SR2 to SR4 work, with the documentation depth and warranty length to back it up, Latham’s is the strongest all-round pick on this list. If your project pulls you into SR5/SR6, blast, ballistic, louvres, or a three-day deadline, the right answer changes.

Whichever direction you go, ask for the certificate of conformity per order rather than per product line, confirm whether the warranty covers the full doorset or just the locking hardware, and get the lead time in writing on your specific configuration.
